Asher Harrington

Dramaturg

Asher is a queer performer, writer and editor with much experience with the student media and musical theatre communities of Melbourne University. She has written and edited for the creative writing department of Farrago magazine, had her short story (‘Sweets to the sweet’) published in Beyond Water’s 2020 anthology, and performed in many UMMTA (University of Melbourne Musical Theatre Association) shows, including Sunday in the Park with George (2017), Witches of Eastwick (2018), Parade (2019) and Legally Blonde (2019). Prior to the COVID-19 restrictions on theatre projects in early 2020, Asher was in the midst of pre-production for UMMTA’s Rent, in which she was serving as the show’s dramaturg. As this project was sadly cut short, Asher is very keen to sink her teeth back into this production role—particularly for such a project as this, which seeks to take an informed and meaningful look at the stories and voices missing from our musical theatre cannon.
